The GIS and Mapping Section Mission is to create visual maps and figures, analyze data, and maintain spatial datasets to support the Department?s mission.
Overview
The GIS and Mapping Section is responsible for creating, updating and maintaining the State Highway Map (Tourist Map), all 75 Arkansas County Maps, 501 Arkansas City Maps, and the County Highway Route and Section Maps for Departmental and public use. In addition, the Section also utilizes GIS platforms to analyze data from all around the Department for planning studies, display maps and figures for the Department. The Section is also responsible for the Department?s All Public Roads Linear Referencing System which is utilized throughout the Department to visually display and locate assets and events for Department purposes.
