LANE CLOSURE SCHEDULED FOR I-40 IN WEST MEMPHIS

LITTLE ROCK (2-22) Crews making improvements to Interstate 40 in West Memphis will require lane closures beginning next week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Weather permitting, crews will be making pavement repairs in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 from just west of Ingram Boulevard westward to the Missouri Street overpass.  The work will require closing two of the three main travel lanes beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25th, and continuing for 48 hours until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27th.  All traffic will be moved to the outside lane.

Once the repairs are completed, the inside lane next to the median will also be opened to traffic, with just the center lane remaining closed.  The center lane will remain closed in order for poured concrete to cure until the afternoon of Friday, March 2nd, at which time all three lanes will be open.

As always, motorists are urged to consider an alternate route and exercise caution when approaching or traveling through highway work zones.
