INTERSTATE 40 TRAFFIC SHIFT IN NORTH LITTLE ROCK CONSTRUCTION ZONE

LITTLE ROCK (8-3)

Crews working on the rehabilitation of Interstate 40 in North Little Rock will close one westbound travel lane in the Levy area beginning at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.  Weather permitting, the work will be complete and two westbound travel lanes will be open by 6:00 a.m. Monday, August 6.

The lane closure is needed to allow workers to shift the westbound traffic to the newly constructed westbound lanes, including the new Levy Bridge . The lane closure and traffic shifts will be in the vicinity of the Highway 107 ( JFK Blvd. ) overpass.

Work is nearing completion on this $57 million project. The end result will be three lanes in each direction on the 6.2 miles of I-40 between I-430 and the I-30/40 Interchange. Highway officials note that there is still work to be completed on the project that will require occasional lane closures, but all work should be complete by this fall.

As always, motorists are urged to consider an alternate route and exercise caution when approaching or traveling through highway work zones.
