CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULED FOR TWO NORTH LITTLE ROCK PROJECTS


    LITTLE ROCK (11-7)

Two North Little Rock road construction projects will require lane closures beginning next week, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Weather permitting, the first phase of a project to widen a mile of East Broadway (Highway 70) in North Little Rock to five lanes between Locust and Cornish St reet s (east of I-30) will begin on Monday, November 12. The work will actually start with by improving the grade on Broadway near Alltel Arena at the site of a former railroad underpass. This phase is expected to take 20 days. Detour signs will be posted throughout the work period, routing traffic either south to Riverfront Drive (Highway 100) or north to West 4th St reet . The contractor will not begin work east of I-30 until this phase is completed.

            In another area of town on McCain Blvd. , a moving lane closure will be needed as crews cold mill the existing surface, pave and then stripe the roadway between Landers and Warden Road . Work will take place between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, as well as Sunday, November 18 from 7:00 a.m. until completion that day.

As always, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
