FRONTAGE ROADS CONVERTING TO ONE-WAY IN SHERWOOD

    LITTLE ROCK (6/12)

Crews working on the Highway 67/167 project in Sherwood will convert the frontage roads between Wildwood and Kiehl to one-way travel overnight on Tuesday, June 24, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

The conversion process will begin at 9:00 p.m. and be completed within a few hours. AHTD crews will be placing covered signs along Landers and Warden Road s next week. The one-way frontage roads will be one-lane over the next month, allowing crews room to complete their work to the frontage roads and to the Brookwood Flyover. The total project should be completed by this fall.

This work is part of the $42.3 million contract awarded to Weaver-Bailey Contractors in September 2005. The work includes reconstruction and widening of the Highway 67/167 main lanes from four to six lanes from Wildwood to just north of Kiehl and from McCain Boulevard south to I-40. The contract also included the Brookwood Flyover and a new Kiehl Overpass.

A previous $22.5 million contract, awarded in 2002 and completed in 2005, widened the lanes between McCain and Wildwood, and included the McCain crossover. The frontage roads within that phase were converted to one-way in 2005.

As always, motorists are urged to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
