WEIGHT EXCEPTIONS RECINDED ON HIGHWAY 46 - REDFIELD TO SHERIDAN
LITTLE ROCK (6-25)
Beginning
July 1, the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) will
rescind the agricultural exception for weight limits on Highway 46 between
Redfield and Sheridan, according to AHTD officials. A maximum weight of 64,000
pounds will once again be the standard for that section of highway.
In
August 2008, the Department approved supplemental weights allowing for up to
85,000 pounds under an exception for agricultural vehicles hauling unfinished
and unprocessed farm products, forest products or other soil products, including
compacted seed cotton.
The
increased weight allowance was made under the condition that if evidence of
objectionable pavement deterioration occurred, then the restictions would revert
back to the original weight standard.
The
supplemental weight signs will be removed and Highway Police will strictly
enforce the posted limits.
