LITTLE ROCK (6-25)

 Weight limits are being lowered on two sections of Highway 124 in Conway County, according to officials from the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD). 

Beginning on Monday, July 6, 2009, a weight limit of 73,280 pounds will be posted on Highway 124 from just east of Jerusalem to Highway 95. On that same date, the legal weight limit will be lowered to 64,000 pounds on the section of Highway 124 beginning at Highway 95 just south of Cleveland and extending eastward to Highway 9 at Center Ridge. A maximum weight of 80,000 pounds is currently allowed on both sections of highway.

The weight restrictions are being imposed because of significant damage to the roadway from existing traffic.
