The Acquisition Section is responsible for the acquisition of real property for highway right of way. This Section negotiates for property, maintains records on the status of each project, and the Section Head recommends the initiation of condemnation actions should negotiations be unsuccessful.
Responsibility for property management functions including the ultimate disposal of surplus real estate is also assigned to the Acquisition Section.
